Hemostatic process
The hemostatic process keeps blood fluid under normal conditions, while responding to vessel injury by rapidly forming clots.13 Platelets play an essential role in hemostasis. Platelets recognize sites of injury, signal and recruit additional platelets to injury sites, adhere to each other, and interact with coagulation cascades to form plugs.14
